Hop on your broomsticks because spooky season is finally here! I’m not sure if its the promise of candy, or if its the inner child looking for any excuse to dress up but Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year, and I know I am not alone.
The good news is that there are lots of ways to make it vegan! So grab your cauldrons and let me be your spooky guide with a few small business favourites.
1. THE TREATS
No FoMo here.
When I became vegan, I thought I was waving farewell to some of my naughty favourites but now I am inundated with option. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really not complaining, however what I have loved discovering is all the smaller businesses striving to be bigger and better than the classics. I’ve featured them in previous boxes and these delicious vegan pumpkin theme chocolate brownies are the bit hit this year!
2. THE SWITCH WITCH
Don’t fear the trick or treaters, embrace the opportunity to spread some vegan options. There are many treats you can stock up on and a lot of them are even labelled as Vegan! If you have little ones of your own wanting to take part then don’t forget stocking up for the switch witch! No one has to miss out on candy at Halloween!
Check out this Halloween pick'n'mix included in this year's box here.
3. THE PARTY GAMES
Don’t ever let anyone tell you that vegans don’t know how to have any fun! There are so many games you can play at your Halloween party from bobbing for apples, scariest pumpkin decoration or poison *ahem* cocktail making. You could even host a vegan halloween bake-off!
4. THE DECORATIONS
Speaking of pumpkins, they make the best all natural decorations for your party. Just ensure you don’t waste the yummy middle. You might be living off pumpkin soup and roasted pumpkin seeds for a month or two but I don’t really see a problem with that! Other options include salt dough ghost garlands, a homemade halloween wreath and flower pot skeletons. Just try to avoid balloons and single use plastic. Pop onto Pinterest and get creative.
I love this MDF hand painted witch & cat door decoration that we included in this year's box.
5. THE COSTUME
If you don’t like the gore and scare of halloween then how about taking inspiration from your vegan favourites like an avocado? If that’s not for you then do a little research and find which of your favourite celebrities are vegan and dress up as them. Or if you want a conversation piece then how about dressing up as a dairy cow (because there is nothing scarier than the dairy industry, am I right?).
6. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES
It wouldn’t be My Vegan Artisan Box if I wasn’t hooting for small businesses. When stocking up for your party supplies, don’t be tempted by the supermarkets! Support more small establishments and businesses instead. The individuality and uniqueness of small business stock will level up your party and have your guests lining up in awe to ask where you shopped!
If you’re looking to support a small business then look no further. My Vegan Artisan Box is a small business and I feature an array of small businesses in every single box. How about signing up for our next vegan subscription box, we promise its all treats here?
